I really like having this blog so that I know were to go to find information that I need along with post questions and find answers to questions. I like that it is layed out into different sections and I can see how the binder should be broken down into sections and what is needed for each part.
I have never used a blog before for a class and I really like the way that you have organised this. It is a very new approach to class discussion for me and I like it so far! I also agree that it is nice to know that information is broken into sections, makes it easier to understand.
I also really appreciate the way that these blogs have been set out, and I don't know a whole lot of teachers who would go to this much effort to scaffold how to complete an assignment like this for us! It's very beneficial for us to be able to ask questions and have conversations on here for you to respond to, as chances are- someone else is having a similar problem!
I, too, have never used a blog before, though I am seeing how interesting and fun this tool can be. Perhaps I will use it in my teaching down the road. But as for the assignment, it is always helpful to have the answers all in one place. And breaking it down into sections to keep it organized really makes it more accessible to students. Thank you for setting up this feature. It will be nice to be able ask questions and get answers from both students and professor when I am setting up my thematic unit.
Agreeing may sound like a simple way to respond, but I do agree. Having something like this clearly laid out makes it so much easier to be organized, which makes life that much easier!
I think this would be a fun way to flip your classroom and provide additional support for students that need it. Even if its not at home they could still benefit from this while in study halls.
I agree that this is a great way to stay organized and have help with questions with this big assignment! I also really like Brandon's comment. One of my cooperating teachers is using a blog in his class as a way to keep the students abreast of current events and it is a great way to integrate technology in the classroom and give the students another resource that can be outside the classroom!
I really like the way you're explaining everything very detailed. For me it's the first time using a blog, so this helped me a lot. I also really like the idea of using a blog in class because you can find every information on one page. The only problem I've been thinking about is, that I get a little bit confused when there are many comments below a video. Is there any way to highline important information in the comments&answers?
Lena, thanks for your feedback. You have brought up an issue that is extremely relevant to today's information rich world. At our finger tips (and our students) you have more information than one can process with a quick skimming of the text. This is a good example why it is so important that we teach our students to read critically and teach/model for them the strategies to read as an expert so they can determine what is "important" information. To stay current and a part of the conversation is the key to getting the information from a blog. If you try and sit and read it all at once at the end you will be overwhelmed. My suggestion is to read it thoroughly at the beginning taking notes on what you believe is important. Then visit the site on a regular basis and remain in the conversation.
It's nice to know that the information is broken down into sections. Its also nice to know where to post our questions.

ReplyDeleteBrandon, I agree. I have been playing with this idea for sometime. I will be trying it "on for size" more and more.
