What is different about these lessons

  1. I think this video is very helpful. It goes into more detail of what the importance of defining and working with language functions which will help me more when I write my lesson plans. Even though it is all useful information, I have to say I lost focus a few times and had to rewatch the video a few times. From my experience with technology and videos in the classroom, if students see that a video is over 10 mins, they zone out and don't want to watch it. Sometimes they will just skim the video and say that they watched it. I think that even just posting straight forward bullet points like you have in the video can be helpful on a blog and then if they want more details they can watch the videos. I hope that doesn't come off as a negative comment, but as an observation.

    1. It is a great point. i always try to stick to the 10 minute and under, but you can see this is something I am still working on. I will continue to try and work on this goal.

  2. I agree with Ms. Kuisle's comment. I also had a question about academic language. If there are words that I believe are part of the academic language, but they are not included on the list we received, should we still include them on our EdTPA lesson plan?
I really think this video is very helpful and tells me a lot about what I should include in the academic language sections on the EdTPA lesson plan.

    1. Great question Leah! The academic language sheet that I passed out only contains the most popular and/or most used words. It is not an exhaustive list. Please use any language that you believe needs to be addressed to make sure all students can access the content/knowledge.
